Dr Matthew Partington

Dr Matthew Partington is Programme Leader for MA/MFA Curating. He is also the University of the West of England Fellow in 20th Century Crafts at the V&A Museum.

He has a background in curating, having obtained an MA in Museum Studies at Leicester University (1994), and worked as curator at Nature in Art, Wallsworth Hall, Gloucester for four years. His other academic interests include applied arts and crafts history; using video as an oral history research methodology and research ethics in the arts.

Georgina Bolton
Associate Lecturer

People and place are at the heart of Georgina’s Producing approach. With 10 years’ experience working in the contemporary visual arts, Georgina has spent the last eight specialising in devising and delivering public realm projects, working in Producing and Consultancy with organisations such as Situations, Trust New Art, The Architecture Centre and Bristol City Council. Georgina has extensive experience in working collaboratively with artists, organisations, city councils, developers, architects and fabricators to create unique and meaningful encounters that engage new audiences, re-awaken places and inspire change. Whether in fields, forests, beaches, heritage sites or urban city centres, Georgina is passionate about creating new ways to experience and access the world around us, bringing temporary and permanent public artworks to life in unusual and ambitious locations.

 

John France

John France is a Senior Lecturer in Drawing and Print at UWE. He has taught extensively in Arts Schools in Britain and abroad. In 1998 he was appointed Head of Fine Art at the University of Derby to run parallel to his role as University Reader in Fine Art and Director of the Centre for Advanced Studio Practice. Working with colleagues at UWE including Professor Deanna Petherbridge and Amanda Wood, John helped initiate the practice-based symposium First and Second Drawing Quarters at Bower Ashton. John has received numerous awards and his work has been included in a number of international group and mixed exhibitions. Curatorial projects include ‘Message to India’ exhibition and publication at the Queens Gallery, British Council New Delhi, which subsequently toured to Chandigarth, Jaipur and Mumbai in 2001.
